Gardenland Mission Inc became a Florida nonprofit corporation in 2009 and was awarded federal 501(c)3 status in 2012. Our mission states that we are dedicated to the rescue and care of feral, abandoned, and in-need animals in our community. In carrying out our mission we have become an animal sanctuary for over 50 community cats. Early on, we realized the need to keep the cats contained indoors in order to protect the wildlife, birds, and pollinators in the wooded areas that are on and around our location.

During the past decade we have observed a dramatic increase in the numbers of migrating birds that visit our animal sanctuary and gardens year-round. About five years ago we added various butterfly plants and have attracted monarch, zebra, sulpher, and swallowtail butterflies. In support of our efforts to provide plants for pollinators, we received a micro-grant from the Jane Goodall Foundation for the purchase of additional plants.

During 2025, we expanded our facilities to increase the capacity of our indoor cat sanctuary. We planted 500 additional host plants to accommodate our increased population of pollinators. And we promoted public awareness of the need to preserve and protect migrating species and local wildlife and the ecosystems that support them. in doing

And we promoted public awareness of the need to preserve and protect migrating species and local wildlife and the ecosystems that support them. in doing so, we were instrumental in saving 7 acres of local wetlands from development.
